When your dog wags her tail

Dogs are pack animals whose ancestors developed tail wagging as a way of communicating with each other. Tail wagging is not always a friendly gesture. A friendly dog will wag her tail loosely. A dog who wags her tail held high and with just the tip of the tail moving rapidly is showing dominance or aggression. A playful dog will also hold her tail up high but the difference is that the whole tail will be wagging from side to side. Submission or fear is shown when a dog holds her tail low and wags it stiffly.
