This is how you can succuessfully teach your dog to sit in just 30 minutes.
Say your dog’s name, say the command, and follow through with touch.
So here is how it goes: For my Doberman, I would say “Shelby! Sit!” as a command, while pulling up on her leash with one hand and pressing down on her hindquarters with my other hand. She really has no choice but to comply and sit. This is when you give her tons of praise and affection for completing the task.
The first time we did this, Shelby had no clue what I was doing — she really looked confused. The second time went smoother, and every time after that she sat down easier and easier.
Remember to praise your dog only when she/he sits all the way down. You will notice that before the twelth time doing this exercise, your dog will already be starting to sit before you put your hand on her hindquarters to push down.
You will be amazed at how quickly your dog learns a command when you use the same command, same tone of voice, and the same sequence when pulling up on the leash while pushing down on her hindquarters. Try to decide when your dog is getting bored, and stop at this point. 30 times was the limit with my Doberman Pinscher.
