How Can a Puppy This Cute and Little Be So Much Work

Little puppies love attention and affection. They want to be part of the pack and do whatever it takes to get attention from their human pack members. They go potty wherever they want, bark, chew, jump, and cry at night. We love them anyhow. Good advice for new puppy owners is to be consistent, gentle, and load up on positive reinforcement — even when it seems you should just let her be, like when your puppy is sitting quietly watching you or playing alone. This positive reinforcement at the appropriate times will let your puppy learn how to get attention from you, the way you want her to.
Simple corrections like a firm “No” when undesirable behavior has occurred then walking away from your puppy will let her know that whatever she has just done causes her to lose her playmate. Constantly yelling or using negative loud commands to correct behavior will teach your puppy that this is all the attention she needs, and the naughty behavior gets it for her. Keep up the strong positive reinforcement when your puppy is behaving and she will learn to happily do what you want.
The owners of the puppy pictured (her name is Jasmine) shower Jasmine and her “sister” Maddie, who is also a puppy, with tons of love and patience!
