A seven year old program sponsored by Alcoa, Friskies Pet Care, and the American Humane Association called Paws to Recycle has sadly announced its closure. This program raised close to $2 million for animal shelters around the country. Paws to Recycle recycled aluminum cans to raise the money they donate to shelters and other non-profit animal organizations.
This was great for the environment, too. They have recycled over 6.6 million pounds of aluminum!
Craig Covert, manager of marketing communication for Alcoa’s Rigid Packaging division explained “While raising funds for shelters, Paws raises awareness of the importance and ease of recycling. The program makes it easy for everyone to save aluminum cans and put them to good use. Through Paws to Recycle, we have kept more than 212 million cans out of landfills.”
